The future of livestock grazing is bright if we care about the environment, our health, wellbeing and a strong economy. Thanks for the share. Hoofed animals have an important role!
Last week we were at the Farming Matters conference in Albury from Land to Market Australia! It was so great to discuss everything regenerative agriculture and see how it is benefitting farmers, landscapes and communities. During the conference our new Engagement and Communications Manager, Eli Court, was able to go and visit Bill Wearn's 'Yammacoona'. He was joined by the Hon Gary Nairn AO from the The Mulloon Institute, standing where our founder, Major-General Michael Jeffery, stood so many years ago when he visited. It is an honour to carry on his legacy and see all the inspiring people collaborating in this space continue on. Thank you to everyone involved in the Farming Matters conference and congratulations to the organisers for an amazing event.

Are you a teacher, parent or kid in the NSW Western Local Land Services Region? Your school could win prizes by designing an artwork that encapsulates our exciting new project!
About our project:
The expansive wide-open spaces of Australia’s rangelands make up majority of our continent. ‘Rangelands Living Skin’ is a new project led by Meat & Livestock Australia and NSW Department of Primary Industries recognising the importance of productivity and resilience in our rangelands. Collaborating with scientists and farming families, the project will focus on soil, plants, animals and people as the living skin of the rangelands.
Entries will close on the 31st of May and the winners will be announced on the 22nd of June. Find out more about the project and how your school can be part: soilsforlife.org.au/rangeland-artwork/

Rangeland Living Skin Artwork Competition - Soils For Life

To celebrate the launch of this project, we are inviting primary school students in the Western LLS Region to enter the Rangelands Living Skin Artwork Competition.Soils For Life is working hard to build collaborative research partnerships and we want to recognise the incredible work happening to regenerate agricultural landscapes right across Australia. In collaboration with the The Australian National University we headed out to catch up with Martin Royds and Matt Hulse at Jillamatong, Braidwood NSW to help them assess and value natural capital and ecosystem services on their property. At Soils For Life, we know that what you can see above the ground is only part of the story, so we took a hydraulic soil corer out to dig a little deeper!
